The approach to extended schools services development in Essex is guided by the Essex Extended Schools Strategy Group. This group serves as a partnership forum for discussion, development of strategies, advice to schools and internal challenge in relation to the extended schools agenda. The group links strategically, through its representatives, with key groups and partners across Essex.

It is accountable to the county Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership. It plays a significant part in informing the Change for Children Programme in Essex.
